Rejoicing in Humility and Shared Values: Aden

Rejoicing in Humility and Shared Values: Aden

We asked Aden, 14 years old, one of our long time retreaters who has been coming to Family Camp since he was 5, some questions about his life and his experience at Vajrapani Institute. This is what he had to say about the qualities that lead him to rejoice and the lessons he has learned here.

What is it you most celebrate about yourself?

The reason I chose humbleness, is because I always feel rather humble towards someone when they say something good about me. However, I don’t like to personally brag/be arrogant so I came to the decision that I am humble.

What’s the most precious thing Vajrapani Institute has given to you?

There are so many elements that make Vajrapani Institute a special place, that it would be impossible to capture it on paper. The aspects that stand out to me the most are the blissful environment, the amount of compassion expressed by everybody, and the respect everyone has for the Earth. They are all a part of what makes it such a wonderful place. However, nothing would be accomplishable without the community spirit. This amazing community makes me feel instantly at home. Everyone expresses so much kindness and respect for each other, which puts so much peaceful energy within the environment. Every year, when I visit Vajrapani, I feel very connected to the environment, and all the wildlife there, which is truly an amazing feeling. When I arrive at Vajrapani, you can immediately feel the amazing energy of the land. Oh, and the food. The food at Vajrapani is amazing. Every meal there tastes really good, is really healthy, and I look forward to this part of the day. I look forwards to being a camp counselor in the future.

Our students, volunteers, staff, and visitors gain precious knowledge and invaluable experiences here thanks to the support of all of our donors. This year you can have your donation matched until December 31st. Help us rejoice and bring out the best in everyone!
