Convenient
We are located near the San Jose and San Francisco airports. A bus can drop eco-minded retreaters at the bottom of our road.
Blessed
Because we were one of the first Buddhist centers to be founded in the US, many highly regarded teachers have stayed here and blessed the land including His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Also, Vajrapani was the site of Lama Yeshe’s cremation, which makes it a very special place for students of our Tibetan tradition.
All the teachers, groups and practitioners who have stayed here have left their mark on Vajrapani, making our land a haven for spiritual practice and giving it a special and palpable power for inner transformation. Stillness, reflection, and peace are with you from the time you step on to the property to the time you say goodbye.
Intimate
Unlike some of the larger retreat centers, we have only enough space for one group at a time. This means that your group will have the place to yourselves and feel like the center belongs to you.
We often receive feedback from group participants that Vajrapani feels like their “second home”. With home-cooked meals and our warm-hearted staff, we’re not surprised!
Authentic
Our staff understands retreat and is committed to serving your group. Our own community practice of mindful living in wisdom and compassion creates an environment of safety and trust where all beings feel nurtured and supported.
Vajrapani Institute is a forest oasis in a busy world.
