Guidelines for Conduct

All guests are asked to abide by the five lay Buddhist precepts while staying on the land. These are:

  • Preserving life, or not harming

  • Taking only what is freely offered, or not stealing

  • Protecting others' relationships, or not harming with sexuality

  • Speaking kindly and truthfully, or not harming with speech

  • Keeping the mind clear, or not using intoxicants

The five Buddhist precepts offer the basic guidelines for conduct behind all Buddhist practice. They help preserve harmony in our community and peace in our hearts.

Silence

Lama’s Ridge is a silent area, so we ask all guests to respect the silence there. You may be sharing the center with some hidden yogis who very much appreciate the stillness.

Privacy

There are certain sections of the land marked “Private”. Please respect the privacy of our staff by not entering these housing or maintenance areas.
