Retreat OverviewThe Jangtse Choje Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche, will bestow the Solitary Hero Yamantaka Initiation and give commentary on the practice for the first week of this retreat. A qualified senior student (TBC) will help to lead the remainder of the approximation retreat. Initiation is required to attend the commentary and retreat Solitary Hero Yamantaka is a core Gelug practice. Yamantaka is the wrathful manifestation of Manjushri, the Buddha of wisdom. As a wrathful practice, Yamantaka presents the means to quickly overcome obstacles that hinder one’s Dharma practice and to achieve enlightenment. Yamantaka is in the class of the Highest Yoga Tantra practices. To be able to attend this retreat you must have received the Solitary Hero Yamantaka empowerment. Students practicing Yamantaka must have a sound basis in the study and meditations of the Path to Enlightenment, and a deep commitment to their Buddhist practice.
PrequisitesPrerequisits for the Initiation: To be confirmed Prerequisites for attending the commentary and Retreat: One must have the Solitary Hero Yamantaka Initiation, have understanding of the basic practice of Lamrin and Lo Jong, and committed to doing six session guru yoga daily. Also it is recommend to complete one or more of the following preliminary practices. one hundred thousand recitation of (Kyab Dro) the refuge prayer one hundred thousand prostrations one hundred thousand Mandala offerings one hundred thousand meik tse ma ( lama zong kha pa's prayer) one hundred thousand Yig Gya (Hundred syllable mantra)

What to Bring: Participants should bring their own ritual objects, such as bell, dorje, damaru, and inner offering.
Teacher Bio
Born in Tibet in 1934, Rinpoche was ordained as a monk at the age of seven. He entered Sera Jey monastery at seventeen and obtained his Geshe Lharampa degree in 1979. Following this, he entered Gyume Tantric University and two years later became Master of Discipline. In 1985 His Holiness the Dalai Lama appointed him abbot of Gyume Tantric Monastery, a position he held for 6 years. Since then he has taught extensively in India and the West. In 2010 he was appointed to the position of Jangtse Choje, which places him second in line for the position of Ganden throne holder (Ganden Tripa), who is the head of the Gelug tradition.
