Finding Opportunity and Community: Venerable Drolma

We asked our former resident Sangha member, Ven. Drolma, some questions about her life and experience at Vajrapani Institute. This is what she had to say about the qualities that lead her to rejoice and the lessons she learned here.

What’s the most precious thing Vajrapani Institute has given you? In what way is it important to you? Why does it matter?

The most precious thing Vajrapani Institute gave me was the opportunity and support to do my spiritual practice more fully than ever before. The support I received from the community both in respect and resources reaffirmed my choice to be ordained. While living there I was challenged briefly in whether or not to stay ordained, but the environment and the people made staying a nun the most obvious choice. Without that support who knows what would have happened…

Drolma sqThis dharma community matters because it allows people a place and a program for people to pursue their spiritual path as completely as possible. Many spiritual paths are supported. The conditions are conducive to the inner work that is required for both healing and growth on many levels. The silence, the accommodations, the teachers, the staff all combine to create a space where people feel safe and inspired to do something that is rarely supported in our modern lives. It matters because it is rare and it is true.

Our students, volunteers, staff, and visitors gain precious knowledge and invaluable experiences here thanks to the support of all of our donors. This year you can have your donation matched until December 31st. Help us rejoice and bring out the best in everyone!
