Individual Retreat Cabins

For a more solitary experience, our 6 private retreat cabins are ideal for individual meditation retreat, offering a quiet, safe and supportive environment in a secluded area of the land. Each 12- by 16-foot cabin is equipped with a single bed, meditation cushions and altar, closet and storage shelves, counter, a folding tray table, a nightstand, and a meditation text table. There is a mat and sitting cushion provided, and there is electric light and propane heat. The cabins share a private bathhouse no more than 100 meters from the cabin, depending in which cabin you are staying.

The cabins are equipped with a thermostat controlled wall heater and a blanket and comforter for the bed. In warmer weather, there is usually a nice breeze, and the windows and doors have screens providing some cross-ventilation inside. You do not need to bring bedding, but you will need a towel and toiletries, a flashlight and batteries, and warm clothing.

Each cabin has a sliding glass door which opens onto a redwood deck and a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. The cabins are situated close to hiking trails and Castle Rock State Park.

Our kitchen provides three vegetarian meals a day, two of which are personally brought to the cabin area. All of the meals are included in the rates quoted for cabin rental. Granola is kept in the cabin for breakfast. A mealbag containing the main meal, hot and ready to eat, and a soup and salad for supper, is delivered to the cabin ridge area at lunchtime each day. The cabin has a two burner propane cooktop, so that you can heat up your soup in the evening when you are ready for supper, heat water for tea, or cook oatmeal in the morning. There is also a refrigerator at the cabin bath house which is kept stocked with milk (also soy or rice milk), fruit, bread, butter, peanut butter and jam to supplement any of your meals as you may wish. If you have a life-threatening food allergy, please inform the staff and we will do our best to accomodate you.

We are unable to purchase special items for our retreaters so if you need to bring special foods for yourself, you may keep a small bag with your name on it in the refrigerator for this purpose. We do ask that you do not do any cooking in the cabin other than what is mentioned above.

We welcome retreatants from all spiritual disciplines and backgrounds. Our cabins are also ideal for writers, students, or anyone needing an intensive study environment. Fell free to bring your laptop computer.

Our community members are available to answer questions and provide practice advice for retreatants.
